Rockwood Triathlon

Rockwood Park Triathlon... showed up, not exactly well rested and did my first Triathlon in nearly 5 years. After my extensive swim training which consisted of a single swim over to my friends cottage, I figured I was ready. The kilt was a big hit! The most amazing part for me was seeing so many of the old Fundy Extreme Club on hand. In fact, it seemed there were more oldies than newbies. Certainly makes me feel guilty for floating away form the group and makes me want to get back to the pool that much harder this year.

Finished respectably in the race and had a fun time

2012- Run 58 ~ 26K

2012- Run 58 ~ 26K
 2 hours 30 minutes

Long Run with Boston Mike. The hardest part was between 40-50 minutes, seemed to have trouble getting my breath but it passed.  A great run with a great runner. Last KM was pretty quiet coming up the long hill from long swamp  into town... That's a long hill. Thanks Mike @love2run.blogspot.com

2012- Run 42 ~ 10K by gumushel at Garmin Connect - Details

Oh February! ugh
So, February is probably one of my biggest training months over the years. What better month to sweat off that Turkey and get things going? I know without checking back that I ran 200 Km last February and at least that many the year before. But, this February has been terrible. First, I overdid things with the 31 in 31 challenge. Then, I thought I did in my hip while demonstrating in PhysEd. The worst part of an injury in physEd would be the ability to swap the words "demonstrating" and "showing off". In any case, the injury wasn't as bad as I had originally thought and I think I'm sufficiently recovered form the 31in31.... So, it's back to the races. I've decided I will in fact register for New York nd things should get back to normal. Training for a marathon this summer will keep me out of trouble.

Two new things I've taken up just because I have no free time are curling and yoga. Monday nights I curl and Wednesday nights I'm doing a karma yoga class. These two things are cutting into my free time but maybe that's what I needed. I'm also shopping for some protein just to bulk up a bit! That ought to make me faster!

10K ....

ran a nice easy 10K tonight at the gym with the last 10 minutes a progression of faster speeds including a full 2 minutes at speed 10... that's some huffing and puffin

after 33 straight days, I took last Friday off, ran a lousy 5K indoor on Saturday, took Sunday off for the Superbowl and Monday for a Town Council Meeting on Trials. So, tonight's run started slowly but settled into a nice 5.5 pace and ramped it up to 6.0 -6.5 in the second half hour.

Felt great. Need to get outdoors before this next cold snap comes. A lot of running to get to 200 this month

Going to get myself registered for New York this week

I'm 75 seconds short because I finished my tuesday run a bit early to talk to some other runners.. I couldn't very well have just run by them, since they were finished and talking in the side of the road, but I think they would have understood.. 75 seconds is 75 seconds... I'm losing my mind

I went and saw my Sports Therapist and she said she didn't think it was plantar fascia tis, but I have to be honest with myself and admit that I am experiencing heel pain, that it is worse in the morning and it seems to be getting worse. Two things I need to do are
#1 stretch
#2 drink more water

The table above is all the garmin activities I have logged since 2005 with the 2 exceptions of 3 months in 2007 when I was in Turkey and 3 months last year when I toasted my garmin on my bike.. What does it all mean? Heel pain and a need for more yoga.. a million calories? @garminconnect ?
that's kinda cool
